QNRF Announces Awardees for the Towards Sustainability of Soils and Groundwater for Society Call

Qatar Foundation member Qatar National Research Fund (QNRF) has announced the results for the Towards Sustainability of Soils and Groundwater for Society Call, for the Qatar-based participants. The call is run by the Belmont Forum, a consortium of international agencies, which QNRF is a member of since 2015.

For this cycle, the Belmont Forum received a total of 17 proposals which were subjected to a thorough screening and review process and six proposals were recommended for funding. One of the awarded projects, which includes a Qatar-based research team, will be funded by QNRF.

The QNRF-awarded project is titled, “Integrated Assessment of Climate Impacts on Ecosystem Functions and Productivity of Critical-Zone Eco-Hydrology (INTERACTION)” submitted by Dr. Chefi Triki from Hamad Bin Khalifa University. Dr. Triki, the lead principal investigator for the project, will be joined by researchers from Italy and the United States of America.

The goal of this call is to produce the necessary knowledge and propose solutions to maintain well-functioning soils and groundwater systems in the critical zone and provide options to rehabilitate them in case of degradation. Click here to learn more about the call.
