QATAR NATIONAL RESEARCH FUND HOSTS ETHICS WORKSHOP

Specialists from Various Institutions Trained to Identify Research Misconduct

Doha, 05 February 2015: Qatar National Research Fund (QNRF), a member of Qatar Foundation Research and Development (QF R&D), recently hosted a two-day training session on Research Misconduct and Research Ethics for specialists from the Supreme Education Council (SEC).

Conducted by Ms Daniela Radhu, Ethical Compliance Specialist at QNRF, and Mohamed Mahgoub, Program Officer for Pre-University Educational Programmes at QNRF, the Training of Trainers (ToT) workshop sought to help research specialists from SEC understand the principles of research misconduct and ethics.

The workshop also sought to develop the specialists’ skills to practically apply the principles of research misconduct and ethics, while also equipping them with the skills to develop materials for the training of school-based research coordinators and teachers around Qatar.  
By investing in cutting-edge research and building a research environment, QNRF is enhancing research culture and capacity that supports Qatar Foundation for Education, Science and Community Development on its mission to build Qatar’s innovation and technology capacity and help the nation develop into a hub of research excellence through Qatar Foundation’s science and research pillar, QF R&D.
“QNRF aims to nurture Qatar’s research environment by addressing the key areas outlined in the Qatar National Research Strategy (QNRS). Therefore hosting information sessions that enable specialists to acquire and develop the skills necessary to uphold international research ethics is just another way in which we work to ingrain research within the scientific culture of Qatar,” said Dr Abdul Sattar Al-Taie, Executive Director of QNRF.
