The particular form of western-led globalization of the past two generations is coming to an end, together with many of its intellectual, political and economic assumptions.What will come next is very unclear, though we may well fear with Gramsci that this period of one world dying and another struggling to be born will produce monsters. This conference will therefore analyze some of the various forms that modernity and the modern state have taken in the Indian Ocean region, and how these differ from the standard version of the liberal state promoted by the West in recent decades.

Breakthrough in use of recycled, local materials in construction

A research project has identified the main solid waste streams in Qatar for potential use in construction and investigated advanced technologies for recycling that could be effectively applied in the country. In a statement, the Ministry of Municipality and Environment (MME) said it was awarded the project by the Qatar National Research Fund (QNRF) regarding the implementation of recycled materials in construction.

QU’s Gas Processing Centre Awarded QNRF Grant

The Gas Processing Centre (GPC) at the College of Engineering, Qatar University (QU), in collaboration with Qatar Environment and Energy Research Institute (Qeeri) at Hamad Bin Khalifa University, College of Business and Economics at QU and Qatar Green Building Council, have received the prestigious QNRF National Priorities Research Programme - Cluster grant.
