Qatar's National Final

In Qatar, the government has set ambitious education and research targets as part of its national vision for 2030. Competitions like FameLab play a key role in disseminating scientific knowledge to the broader community and building up a knowledge economy.  By taking part, budding scientists in Qatar can connect with the global science communication movement, as well as pick up the skills they need to improve the public’s understanding of science, justify funding for their research, and inspire the next generation of scientists and engineers.

“FameLab is an excellent platform for young people and young scientists in Qatar to communicate their passion for Science, Technology, Engineering, and Mathematics (STEM) with the public and build links with their peers both regionally and internationally. Qatar is pioneering by being the first GCC country to hold  the FameLab competition. We believe this engaging competition can contribute to igniting young people’s passion and love for STEM and prepare them to generate knowledge. This will definitely enable Qatar to build its knowledge-based economy, as envisioned by Qatar National Vision 2030” Said Dr. Abdul Sattar Al-Taie, Executive Director of Qatar National Research Fund (QNRF).
