Challenge 22 Roadshow Visits Kingdom of Saudi Arabia

The Supreme Committee for Delivery & Legacy’s Challenge 22 Roadshow has arrived in Saudi Arabia on a six-day stopover to meet with potential applicants and raise awareness about the innovation award that was borne out of a desire to celebrate the 2022 FIFA World Cup Qatar™ as a regional event. The visit kicked off in Dammam and will also include stops in Riyadh and Jeddah.

TEXAS A&M at Qatar (Tamuq) is currently hosting its third annual Liberal Arts International Conference at Hamad Bin Khalifa Student Center at Education City. The three-day meet, which will conclude on Tuesday, is being organised by the university's Liberal Arts Program in collaboration with The Initiative in Professional Ethics (TIPE), an umbrella organisation for all ethics-related activities at Tamuq. The branch campus and Qatar National Research Fund are conference co-sponsors and Hamad Bin Khalifa University (HBKU) is the co-host.

Islamic Medical and Scientific Ethics

The Qatar National Research Fund awarded a three-year, $1,050,000 grant to the Bioethics Research Library (BRL) and the School of Foreign Service Qatar Library (SFS-Q) to develop information services on Islamic Medical and Scientific Ethics (IMSE). Since October 2009, the project staff (working in Georgetown libraries in Qatar and Washington) have identified more than 3,000 writings on Islamic perspectives on abortion, death and dying, genetics, health care delivery, human experimentation, organ transplantation, and reproductive technologies, primarily in English and Arabic. Books, journal and newspaper articles, and web documents are some of the many formats collected. Bibliographic citations in the IMSE catalog are usually accompanied by abstracts, extensive subject headings, and/or links to online sources for full text.

Challenge 22 is an annual innovation award launched in 2015 by the Supreme Committee for Delivery & Legacy (SC), along with its Strategic Partners on this programme, Silatech and Qatar National Research Fund (QNRF). The SC is the organisation responsible for delivering the infrastructure for the 2022 FIFA World Cup™ while creating a lasting legacy for Qatar and the region. Challenge 22 aims to unite, inspire and challenge the region’s brightest minds, providing innovative thinkers with the opportunity to have their ideas showcased in front of an audience of billions in 2022 and beyond.

Scholars present research papers at Liberal Arts International Conference

The third annual Liberal Arts International Conference hosted by Texas A&M University at Qatar (TAMU-Q) started at Hamad Bin Khalifa Student Centre at Education City yesterday. About 70 scholars from more than 20 countries are presenting research papers in a variety of fields at the conference.
