A rapidly growing field in cancer care is precision oncology – that is tailored treatment for patients based on their tumor’s genetic signatures. However, treatment based solely on genetics appear to be unsuccessful for many, indicating that there are other factors involved. The question is: How do we make precision medicine more precise?

Dr. Khaled Khan and Dr. Armstrong Nhlabatsi from the College of Engineering at Qatar University (QU) have recently obtained a US Patent (No. 10,713,355) for their invention on adaptive security.

In an innovative project funded by Qatar Foundation’s (QF’s) Qatar National Research Fund, scientists from Global Water Sustainability Center (GWSC), Texas A&M University at Qatar (TAMUQ) – a QF partner university – and University of Technology Sydney (UTS) have been working together to use PW to generate what is called ‘blue energy’, sometimes also called osmotic power or salinity gradient power.

Qatar has set the right formula to support scientific research and promote innovative technological development and as part of it, the Qatar National Research Fund (QNRF) of Qatar Foundation has supported 4,000 projects through various funding programmes, said a senior official yesterday.
