The wining projects covered research areas, including biomedicine and health; engineering; and technology. First place in the competition went to a team from Texas A&M University at Qatar (TAMUQ). Titled ‘Investigation of the Performances of the Gas Electron Multiplier for Collider Experiments’, the project involved running experimental tests of the gas electron multiplier (GEM) under different conditions for future use in applications such as high energy collider experiments. QNRF, a member of Qatar Foundation Research and Development (QF R&D), presented grants to 89 research proposals across 18 institutions in Qatar for the ninth cycle of the NPRP. The five awardees of the first cycle of PPM were also disclosed. Qatar University was the recipient of nearly 40% of the NPRP awards, with 37 proposals receiving grants. Texas A&M University at Qatar was awarded 16 proposals, while Qatar Environment and Energy Research Institute received awards for 11 proposals. Read more

These grants are part of honoring World Water Day. The funds come from Qatar National Research Fund and its National Priorities Research program. Three of the grants went to the College of Science and Engineering (CSE). Eleven grants were donated to Qatar Environment and Research Institute (QEERI), and the remaining grant went to Qatar Biomedical Research Institute (QBRI). Read more
