Using Drones for Safer and Smarter Cities

Drones (aka Unmanned Aerial Vehicles (UAVs) are increasingly being used in various fields due to their free-space mobility and low cost. UAVs offer many advantages, for instance, they can be equipped with mounted devices, including cameras, sensors, and/or communication interfaces, allowing them to efficiently execute missions in an automated manner without being obstructed by ground restrictions. Moreover, they can also perform on-demand tasks without the need to be always activated, which permits the reduction of energy and maintenance costs.

Exploring response of human tissue to the physical stresses of pregnancy

A research team from Carnegie Mellon University in Qatar (CMU-Q), funded under the 8th cycle of QNRF’s flagship National Priorities Research Program (NPRP), has created a digital 3D mathematical model to predict how human tissue responds to the physical stresses of pregnancy that may lead to the development of a new tool for doctors to measure the risk of miscarriage or pre-term delivery.

Historically, Darb Al Saai translates as “the route of the messenger” and was used by delegates known for their loyalty, courage, knowledge, and skills, who were entrusted with directives and messages from the founder of Qatar, Sheikh Jassim bin Mohamed bin Thani.
