Stepping into a new year, new beginnings

This year, we completed fifteen years of our operations, which marks an important milestone for us. We began with a small team, but our number was not a reflection of the magnitude of our responsibility. Our team set to work right away and has been working ever since, with more talented minds and diverse experiences joining us on the way, all united together by the same cause – to help Qatar develop as an internationally leading center of scientific research, development, and innovation excellence. We remain committed to the realization of this aim.

Our diverse portfolio of research-funding and capacity-building programs reflects our vision of supporting research in Qatar at all levels and across all sectors. We understand the importance and need for knowledge exchange, and the valuable partnerships QNRF has forged with stakeholders in Qatar, the region, and internationally are a testament to that. Our efforts are driven by the goal to contribute to the betterment of the lives of people in Qatar by investing in research and empowering the local human capital.

I am proud to say that we have reached a stage where the impact of our funded projects can be seen making a remarkable difference and this will only increase in the days to come. In this month’s Research Matters, we give you a recap of the year behind us and share a glimpse of what we were up to each month.

The successes we have had this year motivate us to achieve even more in the years to come. This month, we feature an interview with QNRF Director – Technical, Dr. Hisham M. Sabir to gain a deeper insight into this. Lastly, as research is at the core of our operations, we close the year with two timely Research Outcome Seminars that capture the outcome of the impressive work our researchers are conducting. We have a special feature this month to help you learn more about them.
