QNRF PR / Monday, April 4, 2022 / Categories: Research Matters Newsletter Executive Director’s Message | March 2022 Building on our success to transition to the next step in our journey The progress Qatar has achieved in establishing a dynamic research, development, and innovation ecosystem over the last two decades is remarkable. Qatar’s achievements in the RDI sector have been made possible through the work of various academic and research institutions. Founded from the ground up, these institutions have brought together local and global talent to realize the national vision of Qatar while offering unique perspectives toward solving our global challenges. Qatar National Research Fund, founded 16 years ago, is one such organization that was tasked by the country’s leadership to help Qatar emerge as a leading destination for producing knowledge and enabling research that has a profound impact on people around the world. A look at our various research-funding and capacity-building programs, and the outcomes they have produced, asserts that we have lived up to the faith placed in us to develop and take the research culture in Qatar to a high level of success. The next step in our journey entails the translation of this success into tangible and meaningful impact. This includes fully realizing the potential of Research and driving the Development and Innovation ambitions, as outlined in the country’s QRDI 2030 strategy. We are hence glad to bring our efforts under the umbrella of the Qatar Research, Development and Innovation Council (QRDIC) as we continue carrying out the mission of serving Qatar’s academic and research community and improving the lives of its citizens and residents. We will be sharing more about how this next step in our journey helps us further the impact of our programs and activities. As always, this month’s Research Matters brings interesting perspectives and success stories from our research and academic community.
