HEC Paris academics receive near-US$1 million grant from QNRF

HEC Paris in Qatar the region leading hub for Executive Education, offering a complete portfolio of management programs including the first ever international Executive MBA (EMBA) in Qatar has announced that two of its faculty members have been awarded a grant of US$993,000 from Qatar National Research Fund (QNRF) for a research proposal. Andrea Masini and Sam Aflaki, an Associate Professor and Assistant Professor respectively at HEC Paris, received the near$1 million grant from the Qatar National Research Fund for their research proposal: Designing, Managing and Assessing Incentive Structures for Sustainable Energy Solutions. The research project, which will launch shortly, comprises of two tiers: to use energy more efficiently, and to invest in renewable and cleaner sources of energy. The project is envisioned to be delivered over three years. Qatar National Research Fund is a member of Qatar Foundation for Education, Science and Community Development and aims to foster original, competitively-selected research in engineering and technology, physical and life sciences, medicine, humanities, social sciences and the arts. In order to benefit from the significant funds allocated by QNRF, the projects that are selected should be relevant to the region and preferably aligned to the Qatar National Vision 2030. In addition to this, 50% of the work must be conducted in Qatar and the team must also ensure that visibility is brought to the project through conferences, articles and websites. Prof. Masini will initiate this through his participation to a QNRF side event in the next Climate Change Conference to be held in Doha later this month. HEC Paris in Qatar Academic Dean, Professor Antoine Hyafil, commented, It is highly important for us to contribute to creating a knowledge-based economy in Qatar, not only by disseminating the most up to date knowledge through our Executive Education programs, but also by creating knowledge through our research activities The Masini Aflaki project developed with the support of FIKRA Consulting and Research is one example of such research activity. Another QNRF funded project, is developed by HEC Paris Professor Laoucine Kerbache in cooperation with Qatar University. Additionally, several new projects are in the process of being submitted to QNRF this year added Professor Hyafil. According to the influential UK-based Financial Times media group, HEC Paris has been ranked as the number one business school in Europe every year since 2006, and number two in the world for Executive
