Msheireb Enrichment Centres hosts Qatar first Human Development Majlis

Msheireb Enrichment Centre hosted Qatar’s first Human Development Majlis organized by FIKRA Consulting and Research, where decision makers, experts, researchers and academics discussed the latest human development trends in Qatar. The first Human Development Majlis, supported by Msheireb Properties, took place under the patronage of His Excellency Sheikh Hamad bin Jabor Al Thani, President of Qatar Statistics Authority. His Excellency Sheikh Hamad bin Jabor Al Thani said: “The initiative is essential and corresponds well with various strategic development issues that we are addressing today. Moreover, it provides opportunities for exchanging experiences, best practices, and networking. Maryam Al-Mansoori, Senior Director of HR and Support Services at Msheireb Properties said, We are honored to host Qatar first Human Development Majlis at the Msheireb Enrichment Centre. This mutually beneficial platform also demonstrates our desire to positively influence the Qatari society, boosts our active involvement in the development of our communities, and reemphasizes our ongoing commitment to Qatar National Vision 2030 for a diversified, knowledge-based economy and our commitment to the development of strong and capable Nationals as part of our Qatarization strategy.” The Majlis covered a wide variety of elements related to human development and its impact on health, economy and education. The Majlis attendees discussed the role to be played for each of the public sector, private sectorand the civil society in the promotion of human development. They also discussed the future role of the human development Majlis sessions and how they will work on the development of ideas amongst stakeholders. Until 2012, FIKRA was awarded US$2.5 million by Qatar National Research Fund (QNRF) to aid various research projects investigating human and economic development challenges in Qatar. These projects aim to generate analysis and research to support policy making and strategy development. Hassan Al-Ibrahim, Co-Founder and Managing Director of FIKRA Consulting and Research said, The Human Development Majlis is a hybrid model which has grown organically from within our society and it will eventually lead to direct and indirect synergies between the involved parties. It is also a part of the wider Human Development Initiative launched by FIKRA that also includes the research projects funded by QNRF. We wanted to create a cross cutting platform that allows people from different milieus to exchange ideas and possible solutions for convoluted issues with various variables. It is a corroboration of our commitment to the concept of policy entrepreneurship.
