ROS on Advancing Research in Pediatric Diseases and Conditions

Clinical policies and health practices are constantly developing due to technological and scientific advancements, greater advocacy, and increasing collaboration among clinicians and scientists. This has helped with better diagnosis of diseases and devising better treatment plans required for pediatric care.

Advancement of research in pediatric diseases and conditions is crucial to ensure the well-being of children and the future generation. In line with this, Qatar National Research Fund, through its various research-funding programs focusing on research in the biomedical and health sector, has sponsored a rich array of research projects which are setting higher standards for research in pediatric care and conditions.

To share the outcomes of such projects, QNRF recently organized an online Research Outcome Seminar (ROS) on 26th September. The seminar invited leading researchers and healthcare experts to present and exchange the details of their QNRF funded projects and provide an insightful outlook on how the incorporation of genomic approaches and regenerative medicine in pediatric care can be effective in ensuring the long-term health and well-being of people in Qatar.

Shedding light on the importance of the seminar, Dr. Fatemeh Darakhshan-Rassam, Programme Manager, Biomedical Science and Health, said: “QNRF’s aim in hosting this seminar, was to raise the profile of pediatric related research in Qatar, to ensure child health remains a priority in Qatar’s national agenda. The seminar showcased not only the expertise but also the resources readily available in Qatar, which now attracts international collaboration, something which was not conceivable 15 years ago, before the inception of QNRF.”

She further added, “The seminar provided a platform for the research community to engage in discussion to reach decisions regarding prioritisation of long-term funding goals for dedicated pediatric research beyond the forum. We at QNRF are resolute in our commitment in supporting scientists to continue the progress on pediatric research to meet the needs of children in Qatar, especially those affected by preventable diseases.”
