  • In May, Hamad Bin Khalifa University (HBKU), Qatar University (QU) and Weill Cornell Medicine – Qatar (WQM-Q) hosted five events sponsored by QNRF under the CWSP with themes such as air quality, environmental suitability, Arabic big data and AI, and entrepreneurship.

  • As part of the National Scientist Research and Innovation Competition (NSRIC), Qatari students participated in this year’s International Invention, Innovation and Technology Exhibition (ITEX 2022). The Qatari team won seven medals in the ITEX competition. In collaboration with the Ministry of Education and Higher Education, QNRF funds the NSRIC activities. To learn more, see here and here.

  • In April 2022, QNRF launched the 9th cycle of the Graduate Sponsorship Research Award (GSRA). GSRA supports graduate candidates to gain the knowledge, skills, and experience necessary to become future research and development leaders in Qatar. It provides competitive sponsorships to undertake research-based graduate studies towards masters or doctoral degrees through two tracks: GSRA local and GSRA international.

  • In June, QNRF announced the launch of the 22nd cycle of its Conference and Workshop Sponsorship Program (CWSP). The program aims to connect researchers in Qatar to their peers and colleagues, both at home and abroad, by exposing researchers and students to new research directions, findings, and educational techniques. The CWSP will provide a hub for informing scientists from abroad about research opportunities in Qatar through interaction with their counterparts here and encourage them to explore the potential for collaboration. Online proposal submission for this cycle ends on 14 September 2022, and funding announcement will be in November 2022.
