A team of high school student researchers have won the Gold Medal in the 2021 International Invention, Innovation & Technology Exhibition (ITEX) in Kuala Lumpur, Malaysia.

Maker Majlis at the College of Islamic Studies (CIS), in collaboration with Qatar Scientific Club, held an ‘SDG Education and Design Boot Camp’ on January 29, where participants learned, explored, and developed educational tools to teach the United Nations Sustainable Development Goals (UN-SDGs). The interactive boot camp is part of the major Qatar National Research Fund cluster grant “SDG Education in Qatar” and the first workshop of its kind designed to create SDG-related educational tools.

Hosting Islamic Organization for Food Security (IOFS) Forum confirms Qatar’s keenness to enhance the food security system in Islamic countries and build their capabilities in this significantly vital sector, by transferring Qatar’s experience in food security to Islamic countries, as Qatar has invested heavily in food and agricultural policies, infrastructure, market updates, ports and storage reserves.

The Centre for Law & Development (CLD) at Qatar University (QU) has recently published a book entitled “Big Data Analytics and Its Impact on Basin Water Agreements and International Water Law: A Study of the Ramotswa Aquifer.” The monograph addresses a new emerging issue on the use of disruptive technologies for environmental governance. These technologies include artificial intelligence, big data, blockchain and many others. The authors addressed in the book the use of big data in the context of a specific transboundary groundwater: the Ramotswa Aquifer shared between South Africa and Botswana.
