QNRF Announces the launch of the 5th cycle of its flagship funding initiative, the National Priorities Research Program (NPRP)

Qatar National Research Fund (QNRF) is pleased to announce the launch of the 5th cycle of its outstanding international research funding initiative, the National Priorities Research Program (NPRP).

The NPRP is an annual program, with grants of up to US$350,000, per year, for projects that span from one to three years. It funds original, competitively selected research and, as the largest funding activity of QNRF, has already invested over US$345M in 411 projects to date involving 134 collaborative institutions from around the world. The fund is open to both Qatari and non-Qatari citizens, located inside or outside Qatar and accepts proposals from all disciplines.

Applicants can start submitting their Letter of Intent (LoI) online from noon, Doha time, on Tuesday, 13th of September 2011 and should ensure that their applications are in compliance with the requirements listed in the NPRP 5th cycle Request for Proposal (RFP) which is available for download from QNRF's website, www.qnrf.org.

For the launch of NPRP 5th cycle QNRF will be holding three public presentations in Qatar, as well as broadcasting two webinars, especially timed for the convenience of those applicants in North America and south east Asia, outlining the major changes and enhancements made in the 5th cycle and illustrating the applicable policies and guidelines.


The dates, times and venues of QNRF's public presentations, in Doha, are as follows:-
Sunday, 18th September, 10.00am - 11.30am, Education City, Student Center;
Thursday, 22nd September, 10.00am - 11.30am, Qatar University, College of Engineering, Female Campus; Sunday, 25th September, 11.30am - 1.00pm, Hamad Medical Corporation, Hagar Hall.

The webinars will be streamed on the internet on the following dates:-

Friday, September 30th, 8pm, Doha time;

Saturday, October 1st, 10am, Doha time.

A panel of QNRF experts will host the webinars, which will take the form of an online presentation illustrating the application process, followed by a comprehensive Q&A session.
